Recent surveys and indicators have confirmed that growth is bouncing back in the 12 nations that have the euro as their common currency, after a disappointing outcome in the fourth quarter of 2005, when a sharp drop in consumer spending hit the German economy. Sentiment in the French business surveys moved up sharply in February. Italian consumer confidence also rose, suggesting that household optimism in the euro zone continues to recover.
