WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- A leading gauge of the U.S. economy fell for the fourth time in the past five months in August, suggesting continued moderate growth through the end of the year, the Conference Board said Thursday. The index of leading economic indicators fell 0.2% in August for the second straight month, the independent research group said.
